Physical Object:
The physical scope of the project includes the collection, updating, and re-evaluation of all geological data directly related to the active seismic faults and seismic activity of the area, its volcanism, and its evolution in connection with other phenomena such as geothermal anomalies. Based on these data, an assessment will be carried out of both the existing documented information and the new information produced through this project, correlating them with the presence and development of the urban and industrial environment.
Purpose – Expected Results:
The preparation of Disaster Management Plans (DMPs) is an obligation of the Hellenic State deriving from international conventions.
The expected outcome of the project is the identification of high-risk areas and the development of environmental hazard scenarios.
- Geological Hazard Scenarios (Hazard): Evaluation of all collected and recorded information to produce environmental hazard scenarios arising from potential industrial accidents triggered by active fault or volcanic activity.
- Identification of High-Risk Areas (Risk): Upon completion of the environmental hazard scenarios and the assessment of results, urban and industrial areas of elevated risk will be identified, particularly those located in proximity to active geological structures.
