Physical Object:
The IGEY in the past, then the IGME, and currently the HSGME (formerly IGME), throughout its more than 60-year history, has demonstrated significant work in the research, identification, and evaluation of metallic and non-metallic (industrial minerals, ornamental stones, building stones, aggregates) Mineral Raw Materials, as well as lignite deposits, contributing to the country’s industrial and social development. Part of this evaluation was carried out through drilling projects, whose cores are stored at various locations within HSGME’s Regional Units.
Purpose – Expected Results:
This project is considered highly important, as the collection and archiving of drilling cores will provide access to students (geologists, mining engineers, etc.) and enhance their understanding of the geology of different regions of Greece. It will also significantly contribute to the geological knowledge available to the country’s extractive industries.
