For the designation of quarrying areas (common aggregates) throughout Greece, the establishment and operation of special Committees in each Regional Unit is mandated by law (L.1428/84, L.2115/93, L.4203/2013 & L.4512/2018). These Committees must include scientists from HSGME, who provide expert opinions on the suitability of the rocks proposed for inclusion in quarrying zones, conducting sampling and laboratory suitability tests.
Purpose – Expected Results:
Identification of suitable quarrying areas in the country’s Regional Units for the extraction of common-use aggregates, as well as quality control and assessment of material suitability.
