The project aims to establish an international network of training centers dedicated to providing essential education and skills development for professionals in the mineral raw materials sector. The network will map existing expertise and knowledge across the EU and third countries, identify gaps and emerging educational needs, and develop a roadmap for their improvement. It will also design and implement training programs tailored to the current and future requirements of the raw materials industry. The consortium includes 14 organizations from around the world, along with 5 Geological Surveys.
These Geological Surveys, including the Hellenic Survey of Geology and Mineral Exploration (HSGME), participate through the KOIME Department as associated third parties under the umbrella of the European Geological Surveys (EGS). The project is funded by the Horizon 2020 program, launched on February 1, 2018, and concluded on July 31, 2021, following a six-month extension granted due to the pandemic. The total project budget amounts to €1.27 million, with HSGME’s share being €20,250.
