Project Scope:
The project involves the measurement and continuous monitoring of geomagnetic parameters across Greece, including:
- Total magnetic field
- Horizontal and vertical components
- Magnetic declination and inclination
- Magnetic activity indices (K indices)
- Rapid variations – solar activity
Purpose – Expected Outcomes:
- Study of the mechanisms responsible for the generation and variation of the geomagnetic field.
- Preparation of geomagnetic maps.
- Support for studies related to earthquake prediction, the effects of geomagnetic fields on human health, and related phenomena.
- Designation of calibration areas for aircraft compasses.
- Transmission of geomagnetic data to the international network of magnetic observatories (Intermagnet).
- Provision of geomagnetic data to universities and companies to support geophysical research.
