The physical scope of the project includes the systematic documentation of the impact of natural disasters on Greek geosites, in order to accurately determine the appropriate protection measures.
Purpose – Expected Results:
The study of the effects of natural disasters on Greek geosites will complement the ongoing work of HSGME in recording the country's geological heritage, making a decisive contribution to its geoconservation. It will enable the identification of specific protection measures, many of which could be incorporated into future Greek legislation, thereby supporting the work of the state. Furthermore, each new study for the design of georoutes will take into account the hazards and proposed protection measures of the included geosites, leading to the development of safer and more sustainably accessible routes.
