The Contribution of HSGME to the Utilization of the Country’s Geothermal Energy
The physical scope of the project included a series of key actions that ultimately enhance entrepreneurship across multiple areas of economic activity related to geothermal energy exploitation.
Through the implementation of this project, the development and online availability—via a specialized application—of the National Register for the Recording and Monitoring of Geothermal Sites was achieved. This platform contains all the relevant technical information, enabling the investigation and assessment of investment opportunities in the country’s geothermal fields across all sectors capable of utilizing geothermal energy (e.g. thermal tourism, aquaculture heating, greenhouse cultivation, agricultural product drying, heating and cooling of residential, educational, and healthcare facilities, water desalination, etc.).
Additionally, the creation of certification schemes for activities related to geothermal energy was proposed. These schemes will facilitate implementation, thereby strengthening the reliability and attractiveness of geothermal-related economic ventures.
Finally, the project contributed to the enhancement of the institutional and regulatory framework governing HSGME, addressing existing gaps in state supervision and management in modern areas such as geohazards, geoenergy, and the geoenvironment.
