The Hellenic Survey of Geology and Mineral Exploration (HSGME) invites you to its annual conference, which will take place on 3–4 July 2025, at the HSGME Amphitheater, Olympic Village, Acharnes.
The conference, titled “Exploring our national subsurface wealth”, is a key event for the geosciences in Greece, showcasing the latest developments, research results, and prospects in geological and mineral exploration.

With a history dating back to 1919, HSGME is the national geoscientific research authority, with a mission to document the geological structure of the country, to support the responsible use of mineral resources, and to protect the natural environment.
The aim of the conference is to strengthen dialogue between the scientific community, public authorities, and society, towards a sustainable and responsible use of Greece’s geological wealth.

National Geological Museum
Discover the Geological History of Greece
Located within the facilities of the Hellenic Survey of Geology and Mineral Exploration (HSGME) at the Olympic Village, Acharnes, the National Geological Museum is dedicated to Earth sciences.
The museum offers a unique journey through geological time and Greece’s natural wealth, featuring:
- Exhibits highlighting the geological evolution of Greece
- Collections of rocks, minerals, and fossils
- Presentation of HSGME’s role in studying, protecting, and utilizing geological resources
Through educational and interactive displays, the museum addresses both the general public and the scientific community, emphasizing the importance of geosciences for society, the environment, and the economy.
