The Hellenic Authority for Geological and Mineral Research (EAGME) successfully completed its participation in the 86th Thessaloniki International Fair.
In addition to distributing a wide range of promotional material (bags, rock and mineral kits, commemorative albums, and other exhibits), visitors to the EAGME booth had the opportunity to learn about the multifaceted research role of the Authority and to “explore” locations of significant geological interest (such as Meteora and Lake Melissani) through virtual reality (VR) technology. They were also able to take a virtual tour of the main thematic sections of the National Geological Museum, which will soon open its doors to the public and aims to introduce people—especially younger generations—to the fascinating world of Earth Sciences.
The EAGME delegation included Mr. Konstantinos Saltas (President), Mr. Dionysios Goutis (General Director), Mr. Konstantinos Zombos (Deputy General Director), and Board Members Mr. Konstantinos Diamantis and Ms. Nektaria Karakatsani.
The EAGME booth at Thessaloniki International Fair attracted a large number of visitors and officials, who were briefed on the Authority’s scientific fields and extensive activities. Among those present were the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Kostas Skrekas; Deputy Minister, Mr. Giorgos Amyras; General Secretaries of the Ministry, Ms. Alexandra Sdoukou, Mr. Manolis Grafakos, Mr. Konstantinos Arabosis, and Mr. Efthymios Bakogiannis; the Regional Governor of Western Macedonia, Mr. Giorgos Kasapidis; as well as mayors and heads of public and private sector organizations.
