With great success, on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, the Hellenic Survey of Geology and Mineral Exploration (EAGME) hosted at its Olympic Village facilities an informative and engaging seminar organized by the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC) on the topic: “Introduction to the European Ground Motion Service (EGMS).”
The European Ground Motion Service (EGMS) is part of the Copernicus Programme and is dedicated to monitoring ground deformation phenomena across Europe, using radar interferometry techniques to provide continuous and reliable data on land movement.
The seminar was presented by Dr. Michele Crosetto, Head of the Geology Department at CTTC and Chair of the EGMS Advisory Committee.
The event attracted more than 60 participants, including scientists and technical experts working in the field of ground, building, and infrastructure deformation monitoring, as well as representatives from key institutions such as the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, the National Observatory of Athens, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, DESFA (the Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator), the Region of Attica, along with private-sector geologists, geographers, and company executives.
