The website http://volcanoes.eurovolc.eu/ entitled “CATALOGUE OF EUROPEAN VOLCANOES” is now active and accessible online. It was created within the framework of the European Programme “European Network of Observatories and Research Infrastructures for Volcanology” (European Network of Observatories and Research Infrastructures for Volcanology - EUROVOLC), in which the Hellenic Survey of Geology and Mineral Exploration (HSGME) participates, under the scientific supervision of Dr. G. Vougioukalakis, Head of the Department of Natural Disasters (FYC) of the Directorate for the Management of Natural and Technological Hazards (DFYTEK) of the Authority.
The website hosts key information about the volcanoes of Europe. For Greece, the entry for the Santorini volcanic field has already been completed, while additional data for Methana, Milos, Nisyros, and Gyali will follow.

The main objective of the three-year (02/2018 - 02/2021) competitive project EUROVOLC, funded with a total of €5 million under HORIZON 2020, is to promote networking and reduce fragmentation among the structures involved in volcanological research and volcano monitoring across Europe.
Moreover, it aims to coordinate and harmonize efforts for the optimization and automation of both the equipment used in multiparametric volcano monitoring networks and the software employed for data management, assessment, and evaluation. The goal is to achieve accurate and safe conclusions, providing reliable and specific information to the authorities responsible for civil protection.

To achieve the above goals, the following thematic action axes have been defined:
- - Establishment of Common Structures (Community Building)
- - Volcano–Atmosphere Interaction
- - Subsurface Processes
- - Volcanic Crisis Preparedness and Management
