The Library of the Hellenic Survey of Geology and Mineral Exploration (ΕΑGME) is the largest and most specialized geoscientific library in Greece, continuously expanding and updating its resources in the field of geosciences.
Its mission is to preserve and disseminate geological knowledge. The Library houses over 150,000 titles covering the full spectrum of geological disciplines, continuously enriched through donations, acquisitions, and new publications.
Its extensive collection includes approximately 14,000 books, 292 rare editions, 14,000 research studies, 5,000 maps, 7,000 scientific reprints, and 700 journal titles, along with dictionaries, encyclopedias, and general-interest books documenting 170 years of geological knowledge.
With the implementation of the project “Creation of the Open Geoscientific Data Portal (GEOPORTAL)”, the ΕΑGME Library has been upgraded and modernized to enhance its service to the public sector and scientific community.
The majority of its materials have been digitized, and through its renewed online catalog, most of its collections are freely available for browsing and download, providing open and easy access to users.
