EAGME participates in the European research program Heat-Shield (www.heat-shield.eu), which is implemented by the University of Thessaly. Heat-Shield is a project funded by the European Commission aiming to address the negative effects of rising temperatures on the working population. The project’s coordinator in Greece is Dr. Andreas Flouris, Associate Professor at the University of Thessaly.
As part of its activities, Heat-Shield is producing a short documentary focusing on the research conducted in Greece, as well as on the people and industries affected by rising temperatures. The film will tell the stories of workers impacted by heat stress and of those working to develop better prevention measures and policies.
The documentary is being created by the award-winning American filmmakers Ed Kashi and Jason Glaser, who visited the EAGME facilities in Thrakomakedones yesterday for the filming. EAGME’s participation in this initiative is coordinated by the Independent Office for Safety & Prevention, under the supervision of Dr. Nikos Xirokostas.
