The Hellenic Survey of Geology & Mineral Exploration (EAGME), the official institutional authority in the geological and mining sector of Greece, aiming to enhance the efficiency and quality of its scientific work, has been certified for its Quality Management System, which applies across all its operations, in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
EAGME’s Quality Management System is applied to the following areas:
- Execution of research, studies, and related work in the fields of geology, mining, and geosciences, covering both basic and applied research.
- Collection, processing, creation, and dissemination of digital geospatial information.
- Provision of advisory and consulting services to both the public and private sectors.
- Implementation and management of national, co-financed, and other projects using internal resources.
The Quality Management System was developed by the Quality Team and staff of EAGME, with the support of the external consultant Q-PLAN. Following an inspection of the Authority’s Central Services and Regional Units by the accreditation body BQC, accredited by the Hellenic Accreditation System (ESYD), EAGME was certified as fully compliant with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
This certification confirms the commitment of EAGME’s management and employees to providing products and services across all areas of responsibility through controlled quality processes. At the same time, it represents a commitment to the ongoing improvement of its operations, services, and outputs, ensuring that the Authority consistently meets the evolving needs and expectations of the Hellenic State, the public and private sectors, and Greek society at large.
The certification of the Quality Management System under ISO 9001:2015 is of particular importance for another reason as well: it marks the successful continuation of the long-standing application, since 2000, of quality management systems in the Authority’s laboratories, accredited according to the ISO 17025:2018 standard by ESYD:
- Bottled Water Quality Control Laboratory
- Decorative Stones Quality Laboratory “LITHOS”
- Solid Industrial Waste and Sludge Control Laboratory
- Laboratories of the Regional Unit of Epirus
