At the Hellenic Survey of Geology and Mineral Exploration (H.S.G.M.E.), we are implementing Emergency Preventive Measures regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, following the triptych “Prevention – Safety – Responsibility,” to protect the Health and Safety of our personnel while ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the Organization.
Prevention
With a strong sense of responsibility toward our staff and in the interest of safeguarding Public Health, we have taken extraordinary preventive measures. However, these protective measures do not replace individual responsibility. Their success depends on self-discipline and vigilance at the personal level, in order to achieve the greatest possible reduction in the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
For this reason, from the very beginning, we informed all H.S.G.M.E. personnel about the recommended preventive actions against COVID-19, in accordance with the guidelines of the National Public Health Organization (E.O.D.Y.) and the General Secretariat for Civil Protection (G.S.C.P.).
Safety
The safety of our employees remains our top priority. We have implemented and scheduled the necessary protection measures in line with the guidelines, circulars of the Ministry of Health, and the recent Legislative Acts. These measures will be reviewed and reassessed in the coming days, if deemed necessary, based on daily developments and new directives.
Additionally, public access to the Library, Museum, and the Office of Maps, Aerial Photographs, and Scientific Publications of the H.S.G.M.E., as well as to its Regional Units, has been suspended for as long as required.
Responsibility
Our goal is to ensure that the current circumstances do not affect the smooth operation of the H.S.G.M.E..
For this reason, the H.S.G.M.E. has implemented an Emergency Business Continuity Plan, enabling remote work and alternating shifts for over 50% of our staff. We continue our work seamlessly, making the most of technological tools and digital infrastructure.
During this challenging period, we call on all colleagues to show particular sensitivity and responsibility regarding COVID-19, to strictly follow personal hygiene rules, and to take all necessary protective measures both at work and in their personal environments.
We remind everyone that no matter how many measures an employer enforces, without self-control and discipline—first and foremost at the personal level—the risk of COVID-19 transmission cannot be effectively reduced.
This unprecedented situation brings new challenges for all of us. However, with faith, discipline, and adherence to preventive and safety measures, we will overcome it together.
