As part of the project “Groundwater Monitoring Network – DIPYN”, implemented by the Hellenic Survey of Geological & Mineral Exploration (H.S.G.M.E.) through the NSRF 2014–2020, the installation of 30 telemetric instruments for groundwater level monitoring has been scheduled, distributed across the entire country.
The instruments will be placed in representative boreholes to monitor the reserves and trends of selected Groundwater Systems. Their selection is based on their hydrogeological significance and economic importance.
These water-level loggers are instruments that continuously measure and record the water level and temperature of groundwater, equipped with an integrated GSM modem. Measurements are recorded every hour, and the data are transmitted telemetrically to a specially configured server for storage, while the parameter measurements are displayed graphically for the desired monitoring period.
Regarding the Water District of Attica (EL06), the installation of a water-level logger was carried out in collaboration with EYDAP at a borehole located on the company’s premises in the Mavrosouvala area. The borehole, with coordinates X: 482385 Y: 4234145 and code EL06080601, is part of the “National Water Monitoring Network,” corresponding to the groundwater system of Northeastern Parnitha.
In addition, on Thursday, April 16, 2021, a second telemetric instrument was installed in collaboration with the Municipal Water and Sewerage Company of Loutraki – Agioi Theodoroi (DEYAL) at a borehole within the Loutraki groundwater system, with coordinates X: 411100 Y: 4203122.
Finally, upon completion of the telemetric monitoring network installation, the platform and recorded data will be freely accessible to cooperating organizations for internal use.
